Peplum Top

Hello, my dear reader! Here you go – my very last summer outfit post – about such a great piece of clothing as peplum top. I love peplum, I wear it a lot and keep on buying it for my clients to show the best of their hourglass figure, because nothing accentuates it more than peplum. I actually googled it and found out that it’s been invented by ancient Greeks and officially hit the fashion scene later in 19th century. Obviously, those days looking feminine was a top priority.

So let’s get to the basics. Who can wear peplum? I woud say every body shape but “apple”. Sorry ladies, but you have got plenty of other models which suit you best. For the other body shape peplum is great, but you gotta choose the right one. If you have a defined waist, go for peplum which is very fitted , like mine on the pictures. You create great sillhoute, accentuate your waistline and camouflage your belly if you have got one. Choose any model with long or short sleeve, 3/4 is always the most flattering and pair it with skinnies or a tight pencil skirt.

If you are more a straight girl without defined waistline, you mostly probably need a model which is straighter and looser on the waist and in the chest – see the picture below. These models are perfect to combine them with slim cropped pants, shorts or bermuda’s. Skinny jeans or leather legging can also be an option though.

And finally, peplum tops are not made to wear with baggy boyfriend jeans, chino’s, a-line skirts and wide-leg pants. See all the dont’s below:

And some more pictures of my way to wear peplum. This one I have got from one of my favourite brands -Maje. My man says it looks like a matras, but I love the texture of this fabric, the fit and the shape it gives to my body. Have a wonderful weekend, go shopping, dress feminine and DON’t always listen to men (unless they are your best girlfriends of course);)

I am wearing Maje peplum top, leather pants, Karen Millen sandals, BCBG max Azria hairband, &Other Stories purse.

Thank you to my friend Anna Hallard for the pictures and Happy Birthday, darling!!!! I know one day I will proudly say that in the begining of your career you took my pictures;)
