Style Makeover – Andra

Ribbet collage

Why people need a style makeover?! I discovered that actually most of my clients have discovered a necessity to change their style with a change in their life. Some have recently become mothers, others have got a new job, divorced, got married or moved to another country. I hear a variety of stories every day and actually quite pleased with the fact that people do believe that changing the way they look will help them to adapt to the new circumstances of their life.

The new character of my column Andra has stepped into a grown-up life by changing her status from a student into a young professional.  As a student the only thing you need to be is “cool” , to be a part of the crowd. Getting a job and succeeding in it requires a totally different image, especially when you are young and look young and need to prove your professionalism to the older colleagues. In this case clothes may become quite a useful tool: colours, cut and accessories can turn you from a post-graduate to a young professional.

The first look is a good example of looking smart, professional, yet stylish and feminine. Obviously unless you work in a fashion business I would swap lace top and flashy pumps for something more neutral. However the rest of it is all what it takes to dress not for the job you have but the job you want. Suits are my favourites, they are most elegant, smart and flattering fashion creation not only for men but also for women.  Just find the right one for your body shape and you will never have a question “what to wear” again. Do not buy cheap ones though, they will never pay off!

Another look I have chosen for Andra is very fresh, feminine and romantic. And this is what you want to be when you are 25, don’t you? This is a perfect date look, it shows the best of the young girl: slightly fragile defined by a very soft colour combination off white, light blue and pink; very minimalistic cut – I really wanted to draw attention to Andra’s beautiful figure and not to the dress itself.

Andra is wearing: Sandro dress, Zara necklace.

The last look – evening club outfit is a flash-back to the student’s life – rock chic the way intelligent, sophisticated girls can wear it. Andra is a petite so I did not go for a maxi skirt, but kept it midi – which elongates the silhouette without drawing attention to the actual length. Biker jacket – but again very soft leather and small-size details with all respect for petite proportions. Colourwise  the outfit is all in one tone, again to elongate the silhouette and add extra inches to the actual height.
